Google Pay is a quick, convenient, and easy way to make mobile payments from your both in store and online. You can use Google Pay anywhere you can use your contactless CBI Card.
To pay in-store, unlock your device and hold it near the contactless terminal until a checkmark appears on screen.
Yes, you can conveniently use Google Pay to make online and in-app purchases where you see the Google Pay button.
No, you will not be charged for using Google Pay. CBI and Google Pay provide this convenience free of cost.
Google Pay is supported by most NFC enabled devices running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above.
- Firstly, ensure your device has the Google Play app. If you do not already have it, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
- Open the Google Play app and tap “+” in the payment tab.
- Place your card on a flat surface and using your device’s camera, enter your card details. Alternatively, you can manually input the credit card information.
- Follow any additional on-screen verification instructions.
- Read and accept the Terms and Conditions for adding your CBI card to the digital wallet.
- Your registration is now complete, and your card is ready for use with Google Pay.
There is no additional activation needed for using the CBI card which has been added in Google Pay. Payments through Google Pay can be initiated immediately upon successful registration and subject to the card being active.
Google Pay is a simple and convenient alternative to physical cards; no more searching through your wallet or purse and super handy when travelling. Plus, Google Pay adds an additional level of security to your payment information that physical cards don’t have.

Yes, you can. Just follow the same steps, as outlined above, to add your supplementary CBI Card into Google Pay and follow the verification steps as required.
The first card you add to Google Pay will be the default payment card and will be shown as the first card in the list at the top of your screen. To change your default card, open the Google Pay app, tap “Cards”, tap the card you wish to make your default card and then tap “Set as default”.

Google Pay is available for use in the UAE. If you can use your contactless card in the country you are travelling to, you should be able to use Google Pay to make a payment. However please note, CBI policies relating to usage outside of the UAE will apply.

Yes, you can still benefit from the cashback rewards your card currently offers when using Google Pay.
You will receive an immediate notification after each transaction made using Google Pay. When you open the card in the Wallet, you will only see the latest transaction made.
If you open the Google Pay app, your most recent 10 transactions will be listed at the bottom of the screen. To see further details, swipe “Activity” up and tap a transaction.
Cancelling a payment made with Google Pay is the same as cancelling a payment made with a physical card. The exact process will depend on your card issuer’s policies and the merchant you made the purchase from.
After completing a payment using Google Pay, payment confirmation will be displayed on your mobile screen.
You do need an internet connection to add or disable cards from Google Pay and to check your card available balance or limit. However, to make Google Pay transactions, you do not need to have a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. Please note, Google Pay may require you to periodically login to the app and connect your device to the internet to keep the app active.

When you pay with Google Pay, your actual card details aren’t shared; instead, a virtual account number is used to represent, and further protect, your information. Additionally, you’re required to verify all transactions with either your fingerprint or PIN.
In cases where the merchant asks you for the last four digits of the card number, you will need to provide the last four digits of the virtual account number; not the last four digits of the physical card number. For ease, it can be located in the Google Pay app on the Card details associated with the card you are using for your purchase - just tap on the card image to access the number.
If your card is lost, please contact us immediately on +971 600544440. Your physical card will be blocked and a new card will be sent to you.
The payment cards on Google Pay are digital versions of your physical cards. Therefore, if you lose your original payment card and receive a replacement, simply remove the original payment card from Google Pay and then register the replacement card.
You can continue to use Google Pay until your card expiry date. Once you receive your new card, you will need to add it into Google Pay.
